Event

Annual Round Dance

Location: Yellow Thunderbird Lodge

We invite both First Nations and Non-First Nations community members to join us in this annual social gathering.

This is an all-ages event for Indigenous and non-Indigenous folks alike. Learn, connect, and engage with Elders, traditional Knowledge Keepers, and community members in an evening of singing, drumming, and dancing. We invite you to take part in this community building event.

Originally a healing dance, the Round Dance has become a way to socialize and build our community. The Round Dance serves both social and ceremonial functions. It serves as a memorial gathering and social event. At social gatherings and powwows Round Dances are a way of getting more people to dance and to showcase different styles of Indigenous dancing. As with many social dances, Round Dances are a way to show pride in our community and build a sense of community amongst participants while celebrating our identity. We welcome everyone to participate in this celebration of friendship, diversity, and inclusivity. This event encourages both our Indigenous and non-Indigenous relatives within our territory and beyond to learn, connect, and engage with Elders, traditional Knowledge Keepers, and community members in an evening of singing, drumming, and dancing.
