Law Keepers Spring Gathering

June 26, 2025

Location: Yellow Thunderbird Lodge

Our Spring Gathering event for community members to come together and share their knowledge.

The Law Keepers Spring Gathering focuses on learning from law keepers about community engagement practices in lawmaking and working on our lawmaking protocols. Chiefs, delegates, and law keepers from Law Making Nations come together to share knowledge on how engagement should happen within their Nations and to help build strategies for reaching both urban and rural members.

Participating Nations include:

  • Cote First Nation
  • Kahkewistahaw First Nation
  • Little Blackbear’s Band
  • Neekaneet Cree Nation
  • Ocean Man First Nation
  • Pheasant Rump First Nation
  • Peepeekeesis First Nation
  • Pasqua First Nation
  • Starblanket Cree Nation

Each Nation identifies their law keepers in their own way, often including elders or knowledge keepers. The gathering creates space to listen to law keepers on how to design respectful engagement processes that reflect community values and ensure that members, whether living on reserve or in urban areas, have their voices included in lawmaking.
